Veterans' Banner Program

North Huntingdon Township Parks & Recreation operates the NHT Veterans' Banner Program to honor local Veterans within our community. The banners will be displayed within our North Huntingdon Township Parks and contribute to the quality of life and civic pride in our community. To allow for a coordinated and consistent program, NHT Parks & Rec has established the following guidelines for the Veterans' Banner Program:

Eligibility

1. A current North Huntingdon Township resident, or immediate family member of current esident, who is a retired or honorably discharged member of the U.S. Armed Forces is eligible for this program.

A. If a resident of North Huntingdon Township who is Active Duty within the U.S. Armed Forces would like a banner, the Norwin Rotary currently provides a banner program for Active Duty personnel.

Banner Locations

1. North Huntingdon Township has designated poles within our Parks System and immediately adjacent to our Parks for the banners to be hung.

2. All banners are hung up and taken down by the North Huntingdon Parks & Recreation and North Huntingdon Public Works Departments. 

3. All banner locations shall be determined solely by North Huntingdon Township Staff.

Display Period

1. The display period of the banner will be limited by the lifespan of the banner. When the banner is no longer suitable for display, it will be removed. 

2. Some banners may come down for the winter holiday season to accommodate decorations, but they will be put back up and on display afterwards.

3. Each banner will display up to five (5) Veteran service members. A banner for will not be printed until it has reached its capacity. 

Procedures for New Banners

1. New banner applications can be completed on our website or by submitting a paper application, which can be accessed here

2. There is a one time cost of $50 to join the Veterans' Banner Program.

3. Applications are accepted January 2025 thru September 2025.

4. For the application to be considered completed, all parts of the application must be completed, submitted, and payment received.

5. Banners are printed and given to the NHT Parks & Rec and Public Works Department, who will hang the banners.
