Welcome to the Department of Community Development!
(formerly the Department of Planning & Zoning)
Our department guides property owners, developers, and builders in land development and construction through the procedures and ordinances set forth by the Township. We provide full-time building inspection and code enforcement services to insure and promote public health, safety, and welfare.
Our department is responsible for the following:
- Addressing of residential and commercial structures in accordance with Westmoreland County 911 standards
- Building Permits and Inspections: Residential and Commercial
- Development and maintenance of in-house Geographic Information System (GIS)
- Issuance and Inspection of On-Lot Sewage Systems
- Production and distribution of various types of mapping
- Property Liens and Lien Letters
- Review and Approval of Land Development and Subdivisions
- Zoning Administration and Code Enforcement Activities
- Point of contact for the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board
Please contact our department when planning new construction or securing a building permit for an addition or improvement to an existing residential or commercial structure.
